Therapeutic Photography for Personal Growth in North Yorkshire

I am Rebecca and I lead the sessions, I am trained in trauma-informed meditation and mindfulness technique, participatory photography technique by PhotoVoice, meditation and also achieved a distinction in the world’s first qualification in Therapeutic Photography.

We work in partnership with organisations so that individuals feel comfortable and supported along the way.

We are nearing the finishing line on Rise to Thrive; a programme to support confidence within the people of North Yorkshire.

We use therapeutic photography technique to help participants identify their strengths and support them to THRIVE!

The feedback has been astounding with people telling us the feel safe to express themselves.

We have collaborated dozens of organisations communities in North Yorkshire. People feel connected, unjudged, safe, and inspired by the process.

Why does it work?

Mindful Photography is part of a wider process called Therapeutic Photography. We use this structure as a springboard to inspire authentic conversations, guiding individuals through thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a safe space. Many participants have found the act of capturing a photograph and considering the story behind it to be a thoughtful experience. Through Therapeutic Photography, these profound conversations unfold, with the participant retaining full control over the process and choosing what they are comfortable sharing. We begin by nurturing our visual awareness, encouraging individuals to pause, observe their surroundings, and use Mindful Photography to feel truly connected to the world around them.
