Why being present is important

Being present opens our eyes to the beauty surrounding us.

Cuitadella – looking up

In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to become absorbed in our own thoughts, allowing moments of beauty to slip by unnoticed. During my recent holiday in Menorca, I was reminded of the importance of living in the present moment and fully experiencing the world around me.

While exploring Ciutadella Cathedral, I took a moment to step into the tranquil little garden behind it. As I looked up, I marvelled at the intricate lines formed by the tops of the surrounding buildings, a stunning coming together of architecture. This was a gentle reminder that when we allow ourselves to be present, we can appreciate the beauty in the details that often go overlooked.

I continued my journey to the Calas Covas, an ancient walled necropolis, rich with history and mystery.

As I walked through this fascinating site, I took the time to look up once more. The sight of the expansive blue sky, intersected by the delicate trails of airplanes, filled me with wonder. The fluffy clouds danced against the iridescent blue, creating a picturesque canvas that I might have missed if my mind had been elsewhere. I had been here so many times but never even noticed a hidden cave boasting a Roman Inscription … who knew !?

In these moments of stillness, I remembered that life is not just about the places we visit but the experiences we allow ourselves to embrace.

Being present opens our eyes to the immense beauty surrounding us.
