The Impact of Mindful Photography

When we began delivering mindful photography workshops in Eastfield, our goal was modest: reach at least 25 people through five sessions.

In reality, the project reached 76 participants directly.

Across workshops, one-to-one sessions and community events, people explored photography as a way to slow down, observe their surroundings and reconnect with the present moment.

The feedback from participants was incredibly powerful.

One participant shared:

“Coming in I do not feel calm and relaxed, but by the end of the session I do. I feel like I have learned about myself.”

Another said:

“I feel more connected with nature and my surroundings. I didn’t feel positive when I arrived, but I do now.”

What stood out most was how quickly photography became more than just taking pictures.

It became a tool for reflection, conversation and self-discovery.

Participants left sessions not only feeling calmer, but also motivated to continue using photography in their everyday lives.

Sometimes wellbeing support doesn’t need to be complicated.

Sometimes it simply needs to create space to pause, observe and reflect. More on our Eastfield project later this week.
