YOUNG PEOPLE’S PROGRAMME · WELLBEING THROUGH CREATIVITY
Six weeks. One camera. A world seen differently.

Sometimes the most powerful transformations happen in the most mundane moments. Over six weeks, a group of young people picked up smartphones and a DSLR camera— and in doing so, discovered something far more valuable than photography.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment — take the moment and make it perfect.
— A PARTICIPANT’S FAVOURITE QUOTE
What began as a simple photography programme quickly became something much deeper. Young people who arrived carrying anxiety and uncertainty found themselves slowing down, looking closer, and discovering beauty in the ordinary. One participant captured it perfectly: after wandering in search of the “right” subject, they realised that the place they were already standing was interesting all along.
It helped me with my anxiety and nerves. It is amazing — so peaceful and relaxing.
— SESSION PARTICIPANT QUOTE
The impact on motivation was equally striking. Participants spoke of not wanting the sessions to end, of feeling proud of work they’d pushed themselves hard to complete. One young person, signing off their reflection with unmistakable pride, described the effort they’d invested and their happiness with the results.
Photo art is so cool and amazing to do. It helps people with motivation — I really enjoyed it and loved it and don’t want it to end.
— SESSION PARTICIPANT QUOTE
Perhaps the most telling sign of impact came at the end of the final session. When asked to summarise the sessions, one young person said they’d decorate the room and write their reflections on flags at the room entrance — a message for newcomers, a call to action for anyone stepping through the door.
A young person’s words, offered freely to every newcomer who walks through the doors.
Mindful photography gave these young people more than a skill. It gave them a way of seeing — themselves, their environment, and their own potential — with fresh eyes.
