Support for Unpaid Carers Through Mindful Photography

Our Mindful Photography exhibition is still on show at Helmsley Art Centre! Please do go and see it if youโ€™re in North Yorkshire.

Late last year we received an Inspire community grant from North Yorkshire Council which allowed us to support unpaid carers with mindful photography through the winter months.

We worked in partnership with Carers Plus Yorkshire, Helmsley Bowls Club, Helmsley Walled Garden and Helmsley Art Centre.

We recently highlighted the impact of this project to Paddy Chandler of the stronger communities team and weโ€™re glad to report heโ€™s really happy with our progress.

We told him about –

Collaborations across five partnerships

24 participants attending three in-person workshops

3 telephone projects for people unable to leave their home

22 guests attending the exhibition open day

Our six week exhibition at Helmsley Art Centre

10 participants co-creating the exhibition

5 volunteers supporting the entire project

The many who have joined the online mindful photography group which is now 400 strong

The numerous referrals made to other creative and supportive projects in the community

Of course there is also Sophie our amazing participant/ videographer who has created this

If youโ€™d like to try mindful photography then please drop me a line – we have a few projects on the go with Carers Plus Yorkshire for carers and non carers both online and in Eastfield.
