What a treat we have for you this season – poetry, images, quotes and celebration from our face to face and online community.
Welcome to our seasonal blog, where we share the impactful work we have undertaken with funds from Forensic Response UK. This spring, we have reached out to our community, inviting everyone to reflect on the topic: “What does spring mean to me?”
This season, we delivered three enriching workshops designed to foster mindfulness and connection within our community.
Our first event took place at a beautiful remote barn; Hay House at Baxby Manor in Husthwaite. Here, eight participants from the Easingwold community gathered for a half-day mindful retreat. Participants engaged in simple meditations. Afterwards, we embarked on a beautiful walk through the sanctuaryโan enchanting wooded area that provided the perfect backdrop for quiet reflection and connection with nature.

Early mid March, we partnered with the wonderful charity Kyra, which supports women in York. Together, we ventured to St. Anthonyโs Gardens and Rowntree Wharf, where we explored the beauty of our surroundings while engaging in a creative exercise of finding shapes in nature.

We asked what does spring mean to you and one lady said (edited);
โSpring reminds me of transitions, of new chapters and of change. Perhaps even of the doors I can choose to go through, leading onto paths unseen and unknownโฆwith a burst of Spring vitality, in deep trust, I step through the doorway and onto my aligned pathโฆ.
Trusting those mysterious doorways!โ
She then said โthanks for the chance to shift my perspective! ๐๐ฅฐโ
This experience encouraged participants to embrace their creativity and appreciate the little things that often go unnoticed.

Lastly, we had the privilege of working with the female Nigerian community in York, supported by our good friend Bethel Omeife.

This workshop emphasised the importance of connection and shared experiences within our diverse community, highlighting the unique perspectives. Twelve participants attended and Bethel said

As we reflect on these workshops, we invite our community to ponder the significance of spring. What does it mean to you? We hope that the activities and connections fostered during these workshops inspire a deeper appreciation for this season which fills us all with hope.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported these initiatives.

Together, we are slowing down, taking notice, nurturing awareness and connection in our beautiful community.

โEach spring in York, my heart blooms with the daffodils.๐ผโ Ewa

โSpring sunshine & blossom on the bushes. Just right for a peaceful walk.โ Sarah

โSome lovely fungi growing under the rim of an otherwise empty plant pot ๐โ๐ซโ

โAn Ikebana sight to behold
A treasurer richer than any gold
A true beauty with graceful arms
Swaying and dancing, Geisha charms
Fabulous spring time, enjoy every twist and turn.โ
