At Mindful Photography UK CIC, we believe that sometimes the most powerful way to support wellbeing is simply helping people slow down and notice the world around them.
Over the past year we have been working with the community in Eastfield, Scarborough to introduce mindful photography – a simple but powerful approach that blends photography with mindfulness.
Participants are invited to look more closely at their surroundings, capture small moments through a smartphone or camera lens, and reflect on what they see. In doing so, something remarkable happens. People begin to reconnect with their environment, their thoughts, and themselves.
This project was born from conversations with local organisations and residents who recognised a need for accessible wellbeing support in the community.
With funding received from PACT – Cash for Causes in February 2025, we began building partnerships with organisations such as Carers Plus, More than Books, Eastfield Residents Association and Sparks to explore how mindful photography could support people’s mental health and sense of connection.
What we discovered was clear: mindfulness becomes far more accessible when people can experience it through creativity.
And this was just the beginning of the journey. We will add to our blog everyday this week.
