Exploring Creativity in Scarborough
Bank holiday weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a unique workshop in Scarborough, where our creativity was in bucketfuls!
As a facilitator, I love lesson planning, but with so many workshops to run I can sometimes feel overwhelmed to find new ideas. However, spending two hours with like-minded individuals, engaging in hands-on creativity, was a refreshing change.
The highlight of the day was experimenting with UV light on various materials. Predicting how the materials would react was both fascinating and exciting —sometimes the results were amazing, while at other times, they came out a little heavy on the paper creating huge white blocks. This process highlighted a crucial aspect of learning: that not every experiment leads to a perfect outcome. It’s all part of the journey and the learning was fun !

I can’t wait to take these newly acquired skills back to my mindful photography audience. The joy of sharing knowledge and igniting creativity in others is what teaching is all about. Plus, I’m excited to introduce them to new techniques that can enhance their learning experiences.
Another wonderful aspect of this workshop was our talented tutor, Angela Chalmers, who is the artist-in-residence at St. Martin’s on the Hill Church in Scarborough. Her artwork is truly inspiring, showcasing her unique perspective and creativity. We just LOVE the work she does on fabrics! If you’re in the area, I highly recommend visiting her website to explore her work: Angela Chalmers’ Website (http://www.angelachalmers.com).
Looking forward, we will be hosting a mindful photography workshop at St. Martin’s in October. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the world through a smartphone. We have a special guest appearance from Angela herself!
If you’re interested in participating, feel free to message me!
Let’s keep inspiring each other!
