Mindful Photography Exhibition in York

Celebrating Women Through Therapeutic Photography Workshops in York

Zoe Cooper with Mindful Photography UK 2026

Over the past few months, I had the incredible opportunity to run ten sessions across various locations in York, dedicated to supporting women in enhancing their self-esteem through the medium of photography. Our goal was simple: to slow down and take notice of the world around us, using photography as a tool for self-discovery and connection.

I am thrilled to announce that this Wednesday 5 March 2026 as part of York International Women’s Festival we will be showcasing our work in an exhibition open to the public, and everyone is warmly invited to attend and witness the creativity that developed from each participant.

A special thank you goes to our funder Two Ridings Foundation (Women in Business Fund).

Thank you to our photographer Zoe Cooper for capturing the beauty of these moments and for amplifying the voices of the inspiring women who took part in our workshops. Your collaboration has added immense value to this project.

With generous support from the Women in Business Fund, we facilitated trauma informed mindful and therapeutic photography sessions aimed at building confidence and self-esteem among women. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed how these sessions allowed them to feel calmer, more connected, and better at noticing the small moments of beauty in their day-to-day lives.

One participant shared that she arrived feeling tired and unwell, but left the session revitalised thanks to the fresh air and conversations. Another remarked on how she now intentionally takes the time to appreciate new things around her, feeling a sense of excitement returning to her life.

A particularly inspiring story came from a woman who credited the group with helping her rebuild her confidence after experiencing years of anxiety.

Through the supportive environment we created, we have recruited four volunteers and ambassadors for Mindful Photography UK. If you attend our sessions regularly and would like to become an advocate for what we do please drop me an email!

Our participants told us they found a sense of belonging.

These sessions supported a gentle space for creativity, confidence, and connection among the participants. We are proud to celebrate the remarkable women involved and the impactful nature of this thoughtful project.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, and participated.

Join us this Wednesday to see firsthand the magic that happens when women come together to uplift each other through art and shared experiences.
